Heal Chicago
No marketing team? No problem.
June 2024 - Present
SCOPE
Email, website, branding, events, design
Mailchimp, Squarespace, GiveButter, Linktree, Canva, Google Workspace
THE SITUATION
A mission that deserved to be seen.
Heal Chicago is a nonprofit focused on restorative justice and healing in underserved communities. When we started working together they were early-stage – no marketing infrastructure, no budget for a dedicated hire, and just looking for a basic social presence to promote upcoming events.
What started as social media support quietly became something much bigger. As the organization grew and evolved, so did the scope of the work – until I effectively became their on-call creative department.
No brief too small. No deadline too tight. No channel off limits.
WHAT I ACTUALLY DO
Everything. Depending on the week.
This isn’t a single-channel engagement. Heal Chicago needed someone who could move fluidly across strategy, design, writing, web, and events – sometimes all in the same month.
EMAIL & COMMUNICATIONS
01
Write, design, and send every newsletter to hundreds of subscribers. 52% open rate – the industry average is 20%.
WEBSITE DEVELOPMENT
02
Built and rebuilt their website twice on Squarespace as the organization’s programs and focus shifted – currently building a password-protected members hub.
03
ANNUAL FUNDRAISER PRODUCTION
End-to-end: 30+ auction table displays designed, ticketing portal built on GiveButter, live presentation created and shown at the event.
04
BRAND & PROGRAM MATERIALS
Full rebrands, brand decks, grant proposals, one-pagers, cohort data design – whatever the org needs to present itself professionally.
EMAIL DESIGN
Written, designed, and sent – every time.
Every newsletter that goes to Heal Chicago’s hundreds of subscribers was written, designed, and sent by me. The 52% open rate isn’t luck – it’s consistent, relevant, well-designed communication.
PROGRAM GRAPHICS & DESIGN
From flyers to one-pagers to email newsletters,

to 30+ displays designed for the annual fundraiser.
Each auction item got it’s own fully designed display – detailed copy, clear bidding details, and QR codes for mobile bidding. All 30+ produced and delivered for the live event.

HOW IT EVOLVED
The work grew as they grew.
June 2024
Social presence & event graphics
Started with social media management and graphic design to support the Space & Grace and Young Professionals programs.
August 2024
Website & email infrastructure
Shifted focus to website development, rebranding, and setting up a consistent email communication system for hundreds of subscribers.
Annual Fundraiser
Full event production
Designed all auction table materials, built the ticketing portal with auction item descriptions, created the live presentation shown at the event, and handled all marketing and communication leading up to the event.
2025
Professionals for Progress rebrand
When the org retired Space and Grace and relaunched with a more inclusive focus, I handled the full creative transition – new brand deck, website rebuilt, updated messaging, and all supporting material.
Ongoing
On-call creative partner
Grant proposals, donor materials, social graphics, one-pagers, SMS/email marketing, members hub – whatever the week brings.
